How superstitious are you?
I am 101% superstitious though I wasn't brought up in remote places but those beliefs were past down from generation to generations and we all are brought up with all the stories that we hear from those elderly people when we were small.
Here are some beliefs that still pervade our culture and neighborhood.
1. Cutting our hair or nails at night is said to bring misfortune at home such as sickness.
2. It is forbidden to wear black and Sethra gho during special occasions because those colors are associated with grief.
3. Women shall not weave late at night since they will be considered as witch.
4. Having a blue rashes in our body are considered to be bitten by witch.
5. Someone would die if dogs howled in your direction at night.
6. Crows cawing close to your home are regarded to have new visitors.
7. Evils will call your name and take you along when someone calls you by your name in the thick jungle.
8. Keeping sharp things under your pillow will escape you from having nightmares.
9. Women and girls are not allowed to enter into kitchen while on period.
10. One must not eat from men or women for at least one year after their spouse has died, because there are chances the food will be poisoned.
11. If you see someone carrying an empty basket early in the morning, it's believed that your dreams will not be fulfilled.
Those are the only superstition that I could come up with as of now. If anyone reading this knows more, please leave a comment.
